Hippie Clothes Style

Hippie clothes are really unique and hippie trends were very popular during the 60s and the 70s. It was a rage to wear Hippie clothing and Hippie accessories. These clothes are generally made of natural fiber such as cotton, silk, or hemp. Most of these clothes and accessories are all handmade. You will find a lot of knitted lace and bohemian clothing that was part of the Hippie culture and is still considered to be trendy.

Hippie clothes include skirts, shirts, halter neck long dresses, tunic, patchwork dresses and bags. These clothes are very vibrant and very different from normal clothing as they have a distinct style of their own. Hippie clothes generally have a lot beadwork and embellishments such as coins, shells, wooden beads etc.

These beads are generally carved out of natural materials such as wood, shells, stones, etc. Hemp clothing is also very popular with hippie clothing. Knitted scarves, hand bags, and stoles are also very common. Even their knitwear is very colorful and they normally have vibrant earthy color tones.

Their clothing also includes a lot of tie and dye skirts and blouses. Their T-shirts contain amazing graphic designs that are striking. Since most of the hippie clothing and accessories are handmade they are very exclusive and have a special charm. Hippie clothes are generally nice and airy and also comfortable for daily wear. Their clothing in general does not conform to any rules and that is evident in their styles. Hippie clothing also reflects the carefree style and approach towards life. These clothes are very practical and they are all made of natural fibers and are very eco-friendly.

The fashion from the 60s and 70s is back in vogue and the bohemian look is something that never goes out of style. However, you must be careful while putting these things together if you have to achieve the perfect look. Photos courtesy of blogs.mirror.co.uk and newonlineshopping.net

Some simple hair treatments and haircuts would be enough to acquire the highly demanded hairstyle. The first step for getting the hairstyle is to get the right shade of the hair color. A shade of extremely light brown should be used; this would help in giving the perfect blonde hair. After the right color is applied, the hair should then be straightened. Nail fashion 2011 has taken over from its previous years in terms of trendiness and the introduction of exotic and bold colours. There are some themes that are inspiring the colours this year. For example at many fashion week shows the inspiration behind nail fashion stemmed from the fifties flair and dashing diva image. Some models inspired by Rock Chic were seen in gun metallic polish on their nails too. One of the newest shades on the block is dark burgundy which is amongst the most happening colours in nail fashion 2011 especially amongst the jazz age inspired models.

Several other earthy colours have also been seen as part of the nail fashion 2011. These include a whole range of colours like cool mint green, khaki brown, grey brown mix, heather gray and even a light creamy beige colour.  Another shade that was seen in fashion shows was The Met which is a shade of white, with a chic appearance, perfect for beaches. One of the colours that have found favour with the working women is the bright coral polish. An exotic touch was provided by the gold foil which accentuates outfits better than any other colour, especially for parties and pubs.

Other colours that are being seen as fashionable this year include pastel green minty colour, silver metallic, white, deep chocolate brown and bright coral pink. Amongst the themes for nail polish this season, the most popular ones are greys, pastels, nudes and blues. The idea is to embrace the lighter shades of spring which are ideal to alternate with deep and intense colours which are still preferred for parties and glitz. Black and bold red are the two other colours that will round off the most popular shades for nail polish amongst women this season. Photos courtesy of www.nails-fashion.info

How to do Smokey Eye Makeup?

Posted by bell | Fashion,Lifestyle | Friday 18 March 2011 6:00 am

How-to-do-Smokey-Eye-Makeup

Smokey eye makeup is a style of applying eye makeup that gives a dramatic and smokey appearance. This style is popular, but is not advisable to be worn daily. It is best for fancy events. Before you try this style, learn first how to do smokey eye makeup by practicing. Determine what materials you might need and the color that will suit you best. Avoid using shades of blue for this style. The blue shades will make you look like you have a black eye.
The smokey eye makeup is currently becoming a popular makeup technique because it gives the eyes a sultry and sexy appeal. The technique makes the eyes look bigger. It is also considered a derivative of kohl eye makeup used by several cultures worldwide to enhance the appearance of a person’s eyes. Before, this style was only worn by models, but today, it is already worn for everyday makeup. This style of eye makeup uses concealers, two shades of eye shadows, mascara, and eyeliner.

How-to-do-Smokey-Eye-Makeup-1

How to do smokey eye makeup starts by applying a very light shade of concealer all over the top lid and under the eye area. This is done to prepare your eyes for the application of eye shadow. With eyeliner, line both the top and bottom rims. Soften the edges where you made a line using the eye liner with a small sponge brush. Apply a darker shade of shadow over the area where you lined and then smudge it. The next step is to apply a lighter shade with a larger eye shadow brush around the entire eye area. Make sure to soften and graduate outward for the blended look. Mascara should be applied on lashes. Clean any shadow that has fallen below the eye with a fluffy brush and clean up smeared area with a q-tip. Add more shadow and mascara for a more dramatic effect. Curl your lashes and apply 2 to 3 coats of black mascara. For a classic smokey eye look, lightly line lips with a natural color and add some gloss color in peach, pink or caramel. In contrast, you can use a darker lip liner and fill it in with a deep color to get a more dramatic look.
To make your smokey eye look perfect is to use the perfect makeup. Make sure your colors are matched well. Keep your eyelids oil-free in order to keep your eye shadow from melting. The moist consistency of eye shadows makes it stay longer on your eye area. You do not have to be a celebrity to have smokey eye, try it on your eyes and surely you will love it.

Expensive Taste

Posted by bell | Lifestyle | Thursday 2 December 2010 10:29 pm

Expensive-Taste

The process, the quality, and the craftsmanship involved behind most good luxury products are key reasons to spend the extra money. Those that don’t appreciate quality may as well buy the cheap copies. You may think luxury goods are very expensive and overpriced. This is not always the case. Some luxury brands, in fact, most luxury brands, make a lot of money from selling things with very high margins, which are generally overpriced. But those things are usually perfumes, handbags, and licensed goods, which they sell in huge quantities. By contrast, a lot of the luxury goods we see on the catwalks, or in the clothing stores, are not necessarily big money makers.

Let’s take as an example artistic and beautiful scarves. Once the artwork is created – which is no simple task -  choosing the color combinations is the next step. Some will include more than thirty colors. This research into color involves painstaking attention to detail almost to the point of perfectionism. The palette is practically infinite, and is only limited by the ability of the shopper to choose color schemes that appeal. It has been said that Bad colors don’t exist – just bad combinations.

While the designs and colors are being perfected, the silk is being woven and prepared for print. Some silk comes from  Brazilian mills, who supply the skeins of raw silk. The silk generally takes three months to weave into fabric ready for printing. If the engravers get a painting, they need to translate it into distinct, separate colors, which is very difficult to do, since painting tends to have many different tones and blends. The craftsmen then make the colors for the scarves, using the formula from the colorists. Once the colors and the frames are ready, they are brought to the printing table. The woven silk is stretched onto the tables, and the screens are applied one after the other, each one adding a new color to the fabric.

For the final step, the seamstresses use silk thread and hand stitch a rolled hem. As with the previous steps, well trained and experienced artisans are at work to provide the absolute best quality that can be found. As you can see, each step in this process to make a scarf is full of labor by skilled and experienced and diligent workers. There’s no mass producing and no mechanization that would make this a ‘rubber stamp’ process. For those that truly want quality and know how to recognize it, there do exist some beautiful treasures in this world created by people that care for quality and value.

If you’re looking for something this special, it can be found, but not without some searching. You may hear of things that are made special and have special price tags. Buyer beware. You don’t want to end up with low quality and a high price. This will just be a waste and a disappointment. Quality has its price, though. the scarf spoken about can cost over 400 dollars a piece. But it is a scarf you will treasure for the rest of your life.

Family Exercises

Posted by bell | Lifestyle | Tuesday 30 November 2010 11:19 pm

Family-Exercises

How do you keep your entire family in shape? By exercising together, of course. Take the very youngest, for example. Babies and toddlers spend an awful lot of time strapped into car seats or plopped in front of the TV. Not only does this prevent them from practicing their emerging motor skills and strengthening their heart, lungs, and muscles, but it can also set them up for a sedentary lifestyle, and even obesity, as adults.

How, you may wonder, can you help your child get the recommended one-plus hours of daily physical activity when you can’t even make it to the gym? The answer, says Adelphi University professor Stephen Virgilio, is to rethink your idea of exercise. “A workout doesn’t have to mean running laps or lifting weights, which requires you to set aside blocks of time,” he says. “Think of exercise as leading an active lifestyle, which you can do with your kids, and you’ll be able to fit in more than you think.”

One idea, is to take a walk before or after dinner. Whether you head into town or just walk around the neighborhood, building a walk into your daily schedule ensures that it won’t get put off. Brookline, Massachusetts, master Pilates instructor Lisa Johnson and her husband take evening walks with 3-year-old Alex, who alternates time in and out of the stroller. To make walking more enticing, Johnson makes a sport of it. “At one house we look for a cat sitting in the window, at another we run up and down a short flight of stairs,” she says.

Some people hold disco nights with their kids and neighbors. They move the furniture aside, fill the CD player with dance tunes, and let the kids take turns using a flashlight as a strobe light. Sometimes, they dance for three hours straight.

You can also use family chores to get in a work-out. Pretend that dust creatures are invading earth and it’s up to the family to save the day by capturing them with the broom. You can teach your son to save his teddy bears from the slimy pit of the floor by putting them safely in his toy chest. You can also have your toddler walk instead of riding in the cart at the supermarket, and take the stairs or walk up the escalator whenever possible.

And, finally, you can exercise during commercials when you watch TV. Invent silly names for simple exercises like squats, push-ups, and sit-ups, and then do them together till the show comes back on. In some families people even play ‘coach’. In this game, you take turns ordering each other to ‘drop and give me five,’ or ‘follow the leader,’ in which one person leads the others in fun, simple moves like clapping, wiggling, and marching.

The most important point is to find things you can do for even a few minutes at a time to make working out fun and easy for the whole family. Gyms can be sterile, the park can be good, but right at home where most of the time is spent can be the best place to look for fresh ideas for exercise.

Unhealthy Lifestyle

Posted by bell | Lifestyle | Friday 19 November 2010 1:09 am

Unhealthy-LifestylePeople usually talk about how to have a healthy life style. All the things to make you look and feel better. All those things to help you live  longer life. But what about looking at the other side of the coin? Sometimes it helps to clarify things in our mind if we play a little game and take a look at the opposite of what we really should be doing. Let’s look at the 6 Secrets of an Unhealthy Lifestyle.

6 Secrets to an unhealthy life.

Foods can be considered a vital area to address if you want to live an unhealthy life. Avoid all fresh foods. Avoid vegetables. When you eat, eat more than you need. Your diet should be high in empty sugars, like fast food, candies and sodas. Also, try to eat processed foods with as many chemicals and preservatives as possible.

Next is exercise. Oftentimes, working out, brisk walks and sports cause improved circulation and muscle tone. So, avoid any movement. When they talk about a couch potato, that’s your goal. Sit in front of the TV, use a remote, eat while you sit and by all means avoid any unnecessary movement. This will help you body and its internal system to stagnate and your muscles to lose their tone.  This will even make your heart weaker and your brain will also be less sharp and efficient.

For those folks who are always talking about keeping stress to a minimum, well maybe if you want to live longer. But for the folks that want a shorter life, it’s best to have your adrenaline on an emotional roller coaster. Get upset easily at things. Have unrealistic expectations of people and things around you. You’re best at keeping the stress high and your life short if you expect traffic to move faster, your children to be perfect, your mate to never require anything and prices to always be lower than they are. If you persist in insisting that things be impossibly different than they are and you constantly push for the world to be different in an unreasonable way, this should do the trick.

Another way to live shorter and have less joy and peace in your life is to isolate yourself from others. If you have no quality relationships and you keep to yourself, this will help to induce a kind of depression and isolation and that helps you feel more depressed and that is good for an unhealthy life.

Finally, find avoidance strategies for everything that upsets you. Instead of confronting and solving problems in life, find strategies to always avoid life’s problems thus making them fester. Use alcohol, drugs, or shut your mind down and watch TV or read books to get away whenever things come up that bother you.

In summary, we hope you don’t take this advice seriously. We wouldn’t want anyone to live an unhealthy life. Treasure you life and take care of yourself by doing the opposite of what is mentioned above. Maybe this article has helped you to see where you may be able to live an even healthier life. We hope so.

Senior Fashion Tips

Posted by bell | Fashion,Lifestyle | Wednesday 3 November 2010 1:09 am

Senior-Fashion-TipsAre you a senior citizen? Although you don’t want to dress like today’s teen, following a few simple senior fashion tips will help you to always look stylish and current. There’s no need for you to forget all about fashion. Senior men and women probably remember a time when people dressed their best for any occasion, not just special ones. You can adapt modern fashions to your style and look good every day.

Most fashion magazines cater to a younger crowd. But we know you are also interested in style, and that growing older doesn’t make you lose your fashion sense. You may have to wear certain types of clothing to accommodate some health conditions, but you should still be able to sport what makes you comfortable and feel great about yourself.

We know you are not big on fads. See-through tops, sky-high stilettos and micro-mini skirts are not for you. Those styles are best left to the younger set, but there are many people half your age who can’t even wear the latest fads because they’re so outrageous. For some of us, it’s better to ascertain what your particular style is, whether it’s classic, modern or eclectic, and dress according to what we like, even if it’s not the trendy thing to do. Do you like to wear easy-care/easy-wear garments? Some like to choose their clothing based on ease, if possible. This is important for those of us with health conditions, such as arthritis, which make it difficult to fasten tiny buttons or to secure hooks. Zippers, snaps, big buttons or clothes that simply pull on and off fall into the category of easy access clothing that’s easier for some of us to manage.

Do you like cardigans? If you often feel chilly, even when others don’t, it’s a good idea to carry a cardigan or sweater with you at all times. There will be occasions when you just want to throw it about your shoulders; other times, your cardigan can coordinate with your outfit. You should also wear comfortable shoes. You don’t have to give up your heels if you’ve always loved them, but you might have to give up some inches if very high heels have been your habit. Heels that are two inches or less can still add some height and elegance to your look without being dangerous.

Just because you’ve reached a certain age, you don’t have to wear certain things, while giving up other clothes and accessories they’ve always loved. You’ll feel your best if you wear clothing that is comfortable and that represents your personality. You can be unique and appropriate. If bold, dramatic colors have always been your signature, then they should continue to be so. If classic is more your style, there’s no need to change it. Feel free to wear what makes you look as good as you feel about yourself. Don’t hesitate to visit a department store for some fashion tips. Experts in these industries have a discerning eye, and will be happy to consult with you on the best fit, colors, and making the most of your clothing budget with a few select pieces. Getting older doesn’t mean we need to forget about the fun of fashion. Live it up!

Plastic to Wear

Posted by bell | Fashion,Lifestyle | Wednesday 13 October 2010 10:24 pm

Plastic-to-WearHave ever thought about discarded plastic for your own wardrobe? It doesn’t sound very appealing, but you’d be surprised at the many uses for fashion that are being found for plastic. Some of it is recycled, some of it new, all of it plastic.

Businessman Kwabena Osei Bonsu has something he likes to say: “Our bags are complete trash”. He’s an entrepreneur from Ghana  and he has a vision. His Trashy Bags venture is turning the mountains of discarded plastic that litters this corner of west Africa into a cool fashion accessory.

Plastic bags are all over the African landscape. In Ghana they line roads, hang from palm trees, float in the sea and gather in drifts on the white sandy beaches. In Ghana’s capital, Accra, they clog the sewers that run alongside roads turning gutters into stinking repositories of stagnant water and faeces and prime breeding grounds for malaria-carrying mosquitoes. Looking around the city, he decided something needed to be done. “I wanted to come up with an idea that would solve problems in my lifetime,” he said. He decided that the solution would be to collect the discarded plastic bags and stitch them together to make new, reusable bags. He calls his business ‘Trashy Bags’. In the Trashy Bags workshop a dozen tailors and seamstresses sit at manual sewing machines stitching together old plastic sachets.

In west Africa tap water is not fit to drink so millions of half-litre ‘pure water’ sachets costing about 3 cents are discarded by thirsty consumers every day. A storage room overflows with more than three million sachets that have been collected and cleaned ready for recycling. But there are other projects to recycle plastic.

One of the ways of increasing use of recycled materials in the fashion industry is to enhance the look of the fabric and some designers are developing methods to convert raw fiber into texturally rich yarn and producing new types of fabric with visual or tactile aesthetic qualities. There have been uses for plastics in fashion for many years, but not always recycled. Too many items like bags and bottles are not recycled but thrown away by consumers. These items need to be reclaimed from streets and hills,  landfills or garbage dumps where they may sit for a hundred years and then prepared for reuse.

In poorer economies, if uses can be found for discarded plastic, then many people with limited means go and collect this plastic in the form of bottles and bags and present it for sale to recycling plants. It rarely fetches more than a few dollars, but this can mean a meal to those that spend the hours collecting it.

More uses for recycled plastic in fashion and other fields are becoming available on a regular basis. Those that think about recycling and helping our environment are providing a valuable service to the world and oftentimes that valuable service can be a source of good business and profits.
