Chanel perfume history
The Chanel perfume history tells us the importance of a perfume can leave a charismatic effect on people around us. Perfumes are used mainly to enhance the overall personality of the wearer. A fragrance adds a touch of glamour and attraction to the person using it. It is a well known fact that perfume has been used world over since ancient ages. The only difference is that in the olden days the perfumes were natural and these days we get them treated. However the effect and purpose of perfumes has remained common over time. A lot of companies produce perfume brands world over, one such brand is Chanel.

Chanel perfume history

Chanel is a Paris based brand that specializes in perfumes and has been into the perfume business since 1909. The Chanel perfume history states that the brand was established by Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel. She was the chief designer of the company until 1971, which is when she passed away. Chanel started with a small shop where Chanel dealt in apparel and accessories. Chanel perfumes were launched much later in 1924. The perfumes produced by Chanel became such a roaring success that the profits earned from perfumes alone were more than the other products combined together.

The first perfumer to be employed in the Chanel perfume history was Ernest Beaux from 1920 to 1961. The first perfume to be launched by the Chanel brand was Chanel No. 5. This brand has proved to be a success even today. The first perfume that the Chanel brand launched was inspired by the childhood memories and the background of Gabrielle Chanel. All the smells that she had experienced and loved while growing up were imbibed in her first perfume. The popularity of the Chanel perfumes grew mainly because they were loved and recommended by everyone. Photos courtesy of www.acecoco.com and hewomanlife.info

Do you believe in Beauty Potions?

Posted by bell | Beauty | Wednesday 13 October 2010 10:34 pm

Do-you-believe-in-Beauty-PotionsFrom magical potions to down-to-earth ingredients to everything in between, there are so many tricks and techniques to bring beauty that they are as yet uncounted. Every week around the world, new ideas spring up to make you look younger, sexier and more beautiful. Some work, many don’t. Some are expensive and make their inventor’s rich while other can be made with household ingredients. Caution is the word to follow. Take your time and be realistic. You’re a unique person and the beauty is yours to behold. You be the judge.

One potion we found involved Buttercups, Chopped Cucumber, Chervil, and Primrose. You are to put these ingredients in a bag and boil for 10 minutes. Take the water and pour it into a bath. You’ll find this in “The Electric Witch’s Book of Shadows”. It goes on to say: “Relax and enjoy letting all tensions melt away. Ask Aphrodite, the Goddess of beauty, to bless you with the great beauty She can bestow. You will find your skin is smooth and rejuvenated.” Who are we to argue?

We also found the Glow of Beauty Potion #2 at the same place. The ingredients include: 1 Green Candle, 4 Strawberries (mashed), 1 Teaspoon of Sage, 1/2 cup Peppermint or Spearmint Leaves, and 1 Tablespoon of Comfrey Leaf. This potion is to be used “if you a looking and feeling tired”.

It goes on to say: “Make an herb decoction by mixing the strawberries, sage, comfrey and mint and putting them in a clean muslin bag and tying it tightly. Boil it for 15 minutes then taking care not to burn yourself (not the thing to put you in a party mood, no). Then poor it into a warm bath. Dim the lights and have some energizing music playing. Light the green candle. As you bathe, meditate on the color green and all it represents – freshness, newness, rejuvenation, energy. By burning the green candle you are in effect, giving yourself a dose of green, absorbing its healing, rejuvenating qualities.”

Then there is an incantation. This helps to bring the spell to fruition. They go on to say: “When you are ready, raise your arms in the air an incant: I call upon you, Goddess, to recharge my energy. Great Goddess, I call upon you give me some of your Divine beauty. Beauty is within me, beauty is with me.” Then you are to blow out the candles to release the “power of the spell”. Does it work? Why not give it a try?

Here’s another “Beauty Potion Spell”. It asks you to: “Create a positive atmosphere in the kitchen: candles, incense, the lighting, turn peaceful music (classical is very suitable), and start doing your beauty potion. In enamel saucepans cook one orange crust (do not forget to wash it). Prepare a fresh carrot juice. Take the orange crust, with a spoon of honey, then pour the juice and add vanilla. Your potion is now prepared, it is very tasty, adds charm and helps you look irresistible when you go out in the evening!”

Whether these spells work or not, they can be fun and enjoyable to try. Why not take the time to pamper yourself and get some relaxation in? If they work, that’s all the better. If they don’t, you’ve had a wonderful evening.

How do I take care of my Skin?

Posted by Belly | Beauty | Tuesday 13 July 2010 4:22 am

How-do-take-care-of-my-SkinHave you noticed that some people just seem to glow? Why do some people have such beautiful skin? Often, a key factor is the person’s genetics. But, more often than not, you can have a great complexion that radiates health or one that looks sickly simply by the choices you make each day. Here are some basic tips that will help you have the radiant skin you desire.

Dry Brush Exfoliations is very helpful and can be done in the morning before you shower. It eliminates dead skin cells and freshens the epidermis. It also improves lymph and blood circulation and decreases puffiness.

More important to your overall health and system than most people know, digestion can make or break any health regime. Beautiful skin will always be a reflection of a good digestive system. People with skin disorders such as acne and psoriasis often suffer from constipation, imbalanced “good” vs. “bad” bacteria, leaky gut, and other digestive conditions. The two most important things you can do are to drink plenty of water and get enough fiber. It is better to drink clean water – and sodas don’t count as water. Healthy fiber from vegetables instead of tablets or powders is best.

Another important factor in your health and appearance is how much of the right type of exercise you do. Do you really get your heart rate up and invigorate your circulatory system? This is vital to a rosy complexion. Inactivity has been known to affect skin and promote bloating and puffiness, acne, cellulite, and loss of muscle tone.

Cut down sugar in your diet. Although most people know sugar is harmful, excess sugar is considered one of the main causes of premature aging. The more sugar we eat, the more sugar we have entering our bloodstream. Over time, this can result in a process known as glycation, which is when a sugar molecule damages a protein molecule by sticking to it. The new molecules formed are called advanced glycation end-products, or AGEs. AGEs damage collagen in skin, cartilage, and ligaments and promote a loss of elasticity. Wrinkles form and skin begins to sag.

Despite what some people think, healthy fats are needed to keep your body running well and can be a major factor in your skin’s appearance. Essential fatty acids are simply fats your body cannot live without. They are needed to make cell membranes, hormones, and other body chemicals. Essential fats are thought to keep your heart healthy, fight inflammation, and possibly prevent cancer. They are also particularly important to people with inflammatory conditions such as eczema and acne, and also for people with dry skin. People with essential fat deficiency sometimes notice bumps on the backs of their arms.

Last, but not least, cleansers and soap you use on your face can be very important to your skin’s health. Remember that each person has a different complexion and some may react differently to supposedly ‘safe’ soaps. See how your skin reacts to, and feels, after you use certain soaps. In general, stay away from harsh soaps and lean toward more natural products. When in doubt, ask your dermatologist. Skin care experts are there for the tough-to-solve issues that arise with some of us. Find one you trust and feel comfortable with. Beautiful skin could be just a short time away. Take good care of yourself and you’ll be glowing in no time.

Techniques for Beautiful Eyes

Techniques-for-Beautiful-Eyes

Do you want your date to be just blown away by your beautiful eyes? Take a look at the advice that follows and youĺl be that much closer to a perfect evening.

First, prepare your eyes with a concealer. This is used to hide circles under the eyes or a bluish discoloration that some of us get just under the inner eye. To cover darker circles, apply three dots of concealer under each eye. Start at the point where your skin tends to be darkest – sometimes the inner edger – then under the pupil and the third on the outer edge. Pat, never rub with your ring finger. Next, apply an eye base to your lid. This is the secret to keeping your shadow in place for hours. Without properly priming your lid first, your eyeshadow will likely end up a greasy line in your crease. Next, apply the eye shadow. Try to use a three-toned shadow and build from lids to brow. Begin with a light color that almost matches your lid. Sweep the color across the lid and up to the brow bone. Follow with a medium color across your lid only. Build on this with a darker color in the crease. Blend the colors.

Next, follow with eyeliner. Dark eye shadows work great. Wet a slanted brush, then dip in a dark eyeshadow. Line eyes as close to the upper lashes as possible from the inner corner to the outer corner. Follow with liner on bottom eyes, but only line from the middle of the eye out. Smudge the bottom line with a Q-tip or your finger. For a smoky look, use a brush to pat in a dark eyeshadow along the upper lid and below the lid. Blend it well.

Next, brighten your eyes with a highlighter. This step involves only the inside part of the eye. With a gold or pink highlighter (white is too bright), draw a v-shaped shape that follows the inner corner of your eye from top to bottom. Blend with your fingers. Now we are ready to highlight the brow. Take the same highlighter and dab it on your brow bone, concentrating on your mid-brow outward. Blend well. if you want, give some attention to your eyelashes. An eyelash curler makes even short lashes look more gorgeous. Finally, apply the mascara by putting your mascara brush at the bottom of lashes and wiggling back and forth.

Thatś it. Youĺl end up with eyes that will hypnotize him into being your slave.  Use caution as necessary and have fun!

We have collected some of the most popular and useful makeup tips. I am sure you will love these tips. Some makeup tips are from make up experts and some are suggested by our popular visitors.

Here are some of great looking makeup tips for free

Makeup Tip 1) Sweep a little loose powder under your eyes when applying dark shades of eye shadow to catch any falling specks and prevent them from staining your skin.

Makeup Tip 2) Make your lips look larger by wearing a bright, light lipstick. Or make the appear small by wearing dark and more muted colours.

Makeup Tip 3) If you do not have a specialized contouring product for cheeks, simply use an ordinary face powder a couple of shades darker than your usual one to slim down the cheeks.

Makeup Tip 4) Add a drop of witch hazel available in all good pharmacies to turn ordinary foundation into a medicated one, it will work wonders on oily skin which is prone to acne and pimples.

Makeup Tip 5) Mascara your lashes before applying false ones to help them stick properly.

Makeup Tip 6) If you look tired then blend a little concealer just away from the outer corner of your eye – it makes you look as though you had a good night’s sleep.

Makeup Tip 7) If you have not got time for a full make-up, but want to look great, paint on a bright red lipstick – its is happy, glamorous color which immediately brightens your face.

Makeup Tip 8) Never apply makeup before blow drying your hair – the heat from the dryer can make you perspire and cause your makeup to smudge.

Makeup Tip 9) The colour of powder eyeshadow

can be made to look more intense by dipping your eyeshadow brush in water first.

Makeup Tip 10) Keep eye lashes smooth and supple by brushing them with petroleum jelly before going to bed at night.

Makeup Tip 11) Apply cream blusher in light downward movements to prevent it from creasing in specks of colour from catching in the fine hairs on your face.

Makeup Tip 12) If mascara tends to clog on your lower lashes then try using a small thin brush to paint colour on to individual lashes.

Makeup Tip 13) Make sure you give moisturizer time to sink in before you start applying your makeup as it will help your makeup go on more easily.

Makeup Tip 14) If your eye liner is too hard and drags your skin, hold it next to a lighter bulb for a few seconds before applying.

Makeup Tip 15) Lip gloss can look sophisticated if you just apply a dot in the center of your lower lip.

Makeup Tip 16) If you are unsure where to apply blusher, gently pinch your cheeks. If you like the effect, apply blusher in the same area – it will look wonderfully natural!

Makeup Tip 17) To prevent lipstick from getting on your teeth, try this tips – after putting it on, put your finger in the mouth, purse your lips and pull it out.

Makeup Tip 18) Women who wear glasses need to take special advice on makeup. If you are near-sighted, your glasses will make your eyes look smaller. So, go for brighter eyeshadows and lots of mascara to ensure they do not disappear.

Makeup Tip 19) A little foundation lightly rubbed through your eyebrows and brushed through with an old toothbrush will instantly lighten them.

Makeup Tip 20) For long lasting blush on sunny days or hot nights, apply both cream and powder blusher. Apply the cream formulation first, set with translucent powder then dust with a little powder blush.

Skin Care: Best Eye Cream Ingredients

Posted by pim | Beauty,Cosmetics | Monday 29 March 2010 2:40 am

Skin-Care-Best-Eye-Cream-

Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides. For plump skin cells nothing beats hyaluronic acid, which draws moisture from the air and holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water. In addition to hyaluronic acid, Jeannette Graf, MD, author of Stop Aging, Start Living, says that ceramides also help maintain hydration. A powerful new formula that includes both: Estée Lauder Time Zone Anti-Line/Wrinkle Eye Crème.

Retinol. “Anybody who can tolerate retinoic acid should use it,” says dermatologist Doris Day, MD. A vitamin A derivative, retinol stimulates cell turnover and collagen production, helping to strengthen skin and reduce complexion imperfections like sun spots and fine lines. Just remember that a little goes a long way; retinol creams make skin more sun-sensitive and can be overly drying, so apply sparingly before bedtime only. To get your nightly retinol dose, Day suggests Olay Professional Pro-X Eye Restoration Complex.

Neuropeptides. Supersensitive skin types might opt for a peptide-packed eye cream instead of a retinoic acid one. Like retinol, neuropeptides also stimulate collagen and elastin production, but are gentler on the dermis. “In studies applying various neuropeptide preparations directly to the skin, exciting clinical benefits were observed almost immediately upon application,” says Nicholas Perricone, MD. “There was visible improvement of the skin’s resilience, tone, and texture.” Try Perricone MD Neuropeptide Eye Contour to brighten your baby blues and for a double dose of peptides, look for Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Eye Shadow (available next month).

Vitamins C and E. Besides vitamin A (in the form of topical retinol), vitamins C and E are also potent antiaging ingredients. While vitamin C aids in collagen production and skin elasticity, vitamin E soothes and protects. MD Skincare Hydra-Pure Firming Eye Cream contains all three wrinkle-fighting vitamins

Tips for wearing a handband

Bow Headbands

Bow headbands are one of the most adventurous headbands because bows hold a feminine charm that’s both sassy and childish. Bows are cute but at the same time alluring, as it connotes something that needs to be unwrapped and unraveled. Bows on dresses are pretty enough, so how about bows on your head?

During ordinary days, bow headbands are cute and may be wearable everyday as long as they’re of negligible size. Bow headbands for school was even made famous by a modern fashion icon, Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf. They’re best for girls who want to exude the preppy charm.

For additional oomph, you can add crystals on your bow headbands or get them in regal textures like satin or silk. They look best with sexy footwear.

Feather Headbands

For girls who are ready to become instant head turners, feather headbands on their halo territory is one great fashion stunt. Feathers headbands instantly expand the area that your head covers so if you look good, then you will really be difficult to ignore…let alone forget.

Feather headbands are advised for girls who want to simply accentuate a rather bland outfit. If your dress is heavily detailed, we do not advise that you wear feather headbands. But if your dress is just simple and with minimal detail and it needs something loud for it to stand out, feather headbands in complimentary colors will surely do your look justice. Pair with an equally pretty hand bag.

Other Tips for Wearing Exotic Headbands

For bow headbands, bold eye make up is okay, or lip make up. Do not do both, and keep your cheeks neutral or with a little hint of blush only. Since your “head dress” is already loud, don’t tip the balance over and make do with a less fierce face. For feather headbands, you can compliment them with a little daring make up, like stick-on crystals by the eyelids or sparkling mascara. But just keep the blush quiet and the lips just enough to look healthy.

Hair-up is great for those who wear feather headbands because the feathers have the same texture of the hair. Besides, if you let down your hair, your head will just look “bulky”. You get the point. Hair-down, on the other hand, looks great with bow headbands, and here’s the kicker: it doesn’t matter if your hair is wavy, curly or straight. Bow headbands look just like the ones that you use to keep something off (like a bow tie in general) while feather headbands are more “in your face” that’s why hair-up is preferred for the latter.

Since both head bands (bow headbands and feather headbands) are quite daring and risky to pull off, do not wear loud pieces when you’re not sure of it. If you can, ask the opinion of your trusted friends or someone who has a good taste in fashion. If you’re in doubt, don’t do it. Instead, make do with classics that always work—thin headbands with crystals, headbands in layers or headbands which have similar material as jewelry (gold or silver). This also goes for the other accessories that you wear with it. Remember that you will wear it on your head. That’s a place where people will surely see. If you already make a bad impression there, you’ll have a hard time coping for that when the evidence is as glaring as a bright headpiece.

By now, you must already be itching to try on a chic exotic headpiece such as feather headbands that advertise a royal mardi gras or bow headbands which will look charming on your equally angelic face. Just remember to not overdo the fashion statement and that you must be comfortable wearing it. No matter how pretty it looks, if it’s too expensive, too tight, not right for your skin or hair color or the material itches, just ditch the idea. You don’t need to suffer to be beautiful.
